Acne Remedies – Easy Solutions for Better Results

You keep on looking at the mirror, eager to prick and pick those acnes you have on your face. Well, never make the mistake of ever doing it because it won’t do any good. There are some things in your house that might just give you the right solutions.

Acne Remedies: Aloe Vera

Since the olden times, the aloe vera extract has been widely used to cure wounds, cuts, and burns. What others have not realized is that the aloe vera gel has been proven to be a very effective acne remedy due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. In fact, it is a core component among several over-the-counter anti-acne products. The aloe vera gel helps accelerate healing of acne lesions as much as it helps prevent scarring because the aloe contains polysaccharides needed for skin repair. Preparing aloe vera as an acne remedy requires not much effort at all. Simply get an aloe plant, snap a stalk off, remove the gel, and apply it on the affected area. You may also ingest aloe vera through pills or juices.

Acne Remedies: Green Tea

Green tea is one of the highly effective acne remedies. In China, this herb has long been used as a traditional medicine to cure numerous ailments including acne. Green tea contains numerous natural antibacterial properties responsible for destroying acne-causing bacteria as well as free radicals that harm the cells and tissues. It also helps reduce acne inflammation and helps in detoxification. Additionally, green tea takes part in decreasing hormonal activities which are contributory to acne. Green tea as acne remedy may be taken in as pills or as a drink, although green tea creams are available for topical use too.

Acne Remedies: Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a popular acne remedy which contains antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antiseptic properties. Tea tree oil is derived from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia found in the northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia. Native Australians have long used crushed tea tree leaves for healing infections, cuts, and burns. As an acne remedy, tea tree oil is used topically, usually in diluted form.

Acne Remedies: Zinc

Another popular home acne remedy, zinc is a mineral naturally found in food. Zinc is a very powerful mineral, playing a role in more than 300 enzymatic reactions in the body. Zinc helps regulate hormonal imbalance, which is one cause of acne, and as a result, zinc tends to normalize oil production of the skin. Another function that makes zinc a potent acne remedy is its role in protein synthesis and formation of collagen in the body which are vital functions for maintaining healthy skin. Good sources of zinc include oysters, yeast, dairy products, nuts and seeds, wholegrain cereals, and beans. Zinc may also be taken in as a supplement in the form of zinc gluconate or zinc monomethionine (opti-zinc).
